Here are a few smart cleaning and polishing solutions that you can easily make at home

1. Ketchup

This is the fastest way to polish brass which is easily available condiment at every home. No advanced preparation is required to prepare this fastest formula. You can simply use the ready ketchup straight out of the bottle. So, whenever you need cleaning your sculpture squirt a microfiber cloth with some ketchup and start polishing the surface of the brass. When you are satisfied with the result, use another damp microfiber cloth to clean up the ketchup residue.

2. Baking Soda with Fresh Lemon Juice

Take a clean glass bowl. Get some lemon extract into the bowl. Mix a tablespoon of baking soda into the lemon juice. The mixture will fizzle. Stir it slowly to make a nice, thick paste. Now get a bit of the paste onto your microfiber cloth and apply to the tarnished section of the brass item. Rub gently in a circular motion. Let the paste dry, and after few minutes use a fresh damp microfiber cloth to remove the paste. You could see the surface of the brass looking much shinier than it was previously.

3. Vinegar with Salt

You will need a plastic container (large enough to fit the brass object) for this polishing solution. Once you have arranged a suitable container, get a bottle of vinegar and a container of table salt accordingly. Mix both the items and blend it until the salt is completely dissolved in the vinegar. Your cleaning solution is ready. Soak the brass item for 45 to 60 minutes to an hour in the solution. After completing the time use only a microfiber cloth to rub and polish. Once you are finished with the process check the shining, you can repeat the process if feel necessary.

Apart from these if your brass sculpture is just dusty or dirty rather than tarnished, you can use soap or mild detergent to clean it. Submerge the sculpture in warm soapy water and clean it with a soft cloth. You can use a soft-bristled toothbrush to gently scrub the extra dirty areas.
